Narrative
After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her teenage daughter, Astrid, accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife.. Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci tell why she filming Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was an experience he will never forget.. Tim Burton said that this movie would only be made if Michael Keaton came back to reprise his role. Keaton said in March 2014 that this was the only sequel he was interested in.

Having only recently seen the original film, I did not come into this film with high expectations
In that sense, I might judge it differently than someone who was a fan of the classics, so keep that in mind. All in all, I had a good time and think the film is a decent sequel to the cult classic. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who I’ve been a fan of since watching "Smallville" as a child, they bring their own unique storytelling style to the world of *Beetlejuice* in a film that is very different from its predecessor, but in a fresh way that also respects the original. Tim Burton, of course, brings his own unique style, and this certainly feels like a Tim Burton film in every sense of the word. The visual effects and production design are beautifully crafted, with that classic feel of Burton’s films from the 80s and 90s, but enhanced with today’s technologies and more extensive options.
The acting in the film was excellent from all parties involved
Michael Keaton, in the iconic role, looks and behaves exactly the same, as if 36 years have not passed since the first film was shot. Winona Ryder, who has become a much more experienced actress since the original film, proudly leads the film, and the great Justin Theroux is hilarious in his own unique way. Jenna Ortega, while giving a good performance, has seemed a bit overexposed to me in recent years, with the feeling that her presence is inescapable everywhere you look. I would love to see her take on a more challenging role that presents a drastically different performance than what she normally does, to live up to the hype. Another standout performance in the film was Willem Dafoe, in an excellent and unconventional comedic role.

All in all, the cast is full of big names who are always a pleasure to see on screen. From a good selection of songs, especially fun "musical numbers" references to the classics from the first film, and especially, a somewhat different take on Danny Elfman’s iconic and beautiful musical theme that will delight every classic film lover. Overall, while I only recently saw the first film, it’s impossible to ignore the amount of fanfare in this film for fans of the classic film – and I mean that in the most positive way possible. It’s not the modern, tedious fan service seen in a lot of franchise movies lately, but something that respects the original and gives the fans who’ve been waiting for the sequel what they want, doing it in a logical, enjoyable way that stays true to the spirit of the story and what what cinema should be.
